I absolutely LOVED this week. Here, let me tell you why.
Sleeping Beauty has never been a favorite movie of mine. Growing up, I think maybe I saw it once. And then when I rediscovered my love of Disney in high school, I think I watched it once and then gave up. It just never really appealed to me. Even last fall, when I was trying to watch through all of my Disney movies before my Disney trip, I watched this one and still…nothing. I was just bored by the plot, bored with the characters, nothing really stuck out to me. Well, not nothing. Once Upon A Dream is probably in my top Disney songs. I’m not quite sure why, especially seeing as how I never really enjoyed the movie, but I really just love that song. It’s the perfect Disney princess song.
Anyway! That all changed this week. While I still don’t entirely LOVE Sleeping Beauty, it’s grown on me a whole bunch. And that, my dear followers, is exactly what I love about this project of mine. It’s forcing me to give movies I write off another chance. And so far, it’s paid off (Bambi and Pinocchio, specifically). This week, I discovered just how beautiful Aurora is, and how really REALLY attractive Prince Phillip is. Suddenly I understand why people like him so much. ;)
My one complaint with the movie is the end…well not entirely the end, I’ll get there in a second. Raise your hand if you were terrified as a child of the scene where Maleficent ‘bewitches’ Aurora and makes her prick her finger. I’m not a child, not even close, and was still completely unnerved by that scene. The music alone is terrifying. Ugh. Anyway, my complaint about the end. I felt like it drug on a bit. I’m not sure if this is because they tried to cram in too much action, or because I was pausing every 30 seconds or so to get another screencap, dragging it out quite a bit. (The later is entire possible…btw)
Anyway, now that I’ve dominated your dashboards with a novel of my thoughts on Sleeping Beauty, I’ll end with our usual question to sum this week up.
My favorite fairy is Merryweather. Who is yours?
This video is 3 years after the previous one. Same little girl, same Aurora.
The hidden Mickey in this one is almost impossible to find, even in fullview. Good luck!
Can you find it?
